Mariah’s Birth Story // Port Orchard/Tacoma, WA Birth Photography

What an honor to help support this family through their birth story! I spent 22 hours with them from the time I arrived at their home, anticipating their home birth, then when complications arose joining them at the hospital to deliver there, through delivery and then into the recovery room to meet sister! It was a long one but I loved every minute–being a source of support for families during their birth is one of my favorite parts of this job.

When it became obvious that this little one needed to be born through a cesarean birth, Mama got her wish and the surgical team allowed me to follow them into the OR to capture that magical birth moments! I remember her talking to her medical team before the surgery saying “Please let my photographer come it–it’s the only thing left that can go right for me: to have birth photos.”  Such a profound moment for me to remember that birth photography has value in that it is something mothers and families can count on through all the many variables of birth. It was such a wonderful experience to stand alongside this family and help support this amazing, powerful birth story!
